9/6/01 – JOEL POIRIER SPEAKS
I recieved an an email from Joel on Sunday and he asked me to post it on the site so the fans could all read what he has to say about the current situation and what his situation is…
“Hey Stephen,
This Joel Poirier. I have just finished reading the site that you have created. I have quickly went through the forum part and became even more frustrated than I already am.
Let me start by saying that since my first year playing in Newcastle I can honestly say that I have enjoyed playing here. I came here with no clue what to expect of Newcastle and can say since the first day I loved the city. As I got to meet more and more people, I came to find that the people are as great as the city. I guess it is for this reason that it really bothers me the way things have turned out. Now I know as all of you, that things are less than enjoyable as of right now for Jesters hockey. I don’t know what is going to happen in the future and because of the way myself and the other players have been treated I would find it very hard to commit to an organisation that hasn’t been committed to me.
I really don’t know what else to say. At the end of it all I would like to send my thanks out to all you who have supported the team over the last few years, as it is you who have kept the team going.
Thanks again for all of your support,
Joel”

10/5/01 – LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IMMINENT
The Jesters owners Fablon Investments and the Eye Group are likely to have legal proceedings brought against them any time unless the current pay dispute is settled with haste. Both the British and Finnish players associations are threatening legal action towards the club for unpaid wages owed to their members. The club has made no comment.
3/5/01 – MULVENNA TO COACH?
Rumours around at the minute point to Glenn Mulvenna being appointed as head coach of Newcastle Jesters for the forthcoming season. Although at this point there is still a black cloud over the future of the club at all after the lack of payment to last season’s players.
Other rumours suggest that Paul Smith is in the process of trying to attract some sort of hook-up with an NHL team.
